Owned by Bacardi’s scotch arm Dewar and Sons, the most popular whisky brand in the US. Aultmore distillery produces an eponymous single malt whisky. Founded in 1895 by industry legend Alexander Edward, before being purchased by Bacardi in 1998.

The name originates from the Scotch Gaelic for “Big Burn”, being located near the Burn of Auchinderran. This river provides the fresh water used in the production of Aultmore whisky. The distillery itself sits in picturesque isolation, surrounded on all sides by rolling farmland and forests.

Demand is huge for the Aultmore distillery due most of the supply being used in Dewar’s “White Label” which is one of the best selling scotch whiskies across the US, Canada and Mexico. The single malt releases under the Aultmore name won double golds across 3 different categories in the 2019 World Spirits Competition.

There have been independent bottlings such as under Blackadder and Douglas Laing, which received a lot of press attention.
