The Speyside Distillery

Back to Distilleries

This small Speyside distillery is the definition of handcrafted. The site was originally purchased in 1962 and over the next 20 years the distillery would be built by hand by just two men, owner George Christie and a stone mason Alex Fairlie. It wouldn’t be until 1990 that production actually began.

The distillery is focused almost exclusively on producing high quality single malts destined for primarily Taiwan, where a million bottles are sold a year. The Spey is the best selling of its single malt releases, being exported to 22 countries across the world and taking home two golds at World Whiskies Awards 2021. In 2018 the owners were recognised for excellence by the Department for International Trade following a record year for exports.
