Hackstons Collaborates With One Tree Planted to Help Tackle Deforestation

Deforestation is one of the most pressing issues for the whisky investment industry, we are delighted to announce our partnership with One Tree Planted to contribute in replenishing Earth's forests.

We are delighted to announce our collaboration with One Tree Planted, one of the largest tree planting organisations in the world. Hackstons will be donating per cask sale in order to aid reforestation efforts across the world.

One Tree Planted works with a network of partners to plant native trees across the world. Operating across nearly every continent other than Antarctica (for obvious reasons), the charity has been working tirelessly since 2014 to help reach the Trillion Trees Initiative.

At Hackstons, we believe reforestation is an important issue for the whisky investment ecosystem. Whisky casks are nearly always made out of deciduous American and European Oak trees and these forests are under threat from climate change and unsustainable logging practices. For each cask that we sell, we will donate, so that the trees that are used to make the cask are replenished in these vital regions.

The reason that we focused on these regions is that much of the American Oak trees used to make whisky casks are harvested in the Appalachian mountains. Meanwhile Scotland is obviously the home of scotch and it is imperative to protect the natural beauty of the landscape.
